  • Responsibilities

    Instructional Production Services (IPS), part of Digital Learning & Innovation (DL&I) at BU, is seeking an Educational Media Producer (EMP) with creative storytelling capabilities as well as strong video production, graphic, and editing skills. Along with a team of other multimedia producers, instructional support specialists, and digital learning designers, the EMP will help develop compelling multimedia objects in support of faculty teaching initiatives.

    The ideal candidate will be a forward-thinking multimedia creator with the ability to tell engaging stories about teaching, learning, and research. The ideal candidate will have a strong desire to work on a team of creative professionals and partner on creative solutions. A successful candidate will be organized and proactive, have excellent attention to detail, and the ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously.

    The EMP will support all aspects of the video and audio production process: pre-production, planning, logistics, recording, editing, incorporating feedback, animation and delivery. This includes field and studio recording, the creation and integration of graphics, titles and animated sequences using Adobe Premiere and After Effects, and the preparation of a final product to be implemented into a learning management system.

     

    PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Develop compelling multimedia in collaboration with project partners on the IPS team and in consultation with faculty/course authors. Carry out studio and field recordings of video and audio. Assist in the creation of delivering accessible media.
    • Edit video, audio, and related media for presentations as needed. Contribute to efforts to make multimedia content social media-friendly.
    • Craft animations and graphics related to IPS and DL&I projects.
    • Other duties as assigned by project demand.

    Required Skills

    • Bachelor's degree in Film Production, Multimedia/Visual Communications, Graphic Design, or a related field preferred.
    • Mastery of Adobe Premiere Pro and After Effects required; proficiency in Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop preferred; experience with other Adobe Creative Suite applications and creation of engaging digital platforms and knowledge of Flash or HTML 5 a plus.
    • Adeptness in recording and editing with multiple audio-visual equipment formats.
    • Excellent customer service and communication skills.
    • Demonstrated flexibility and adaptability to take on new projects and assignments on short notice.
    • Strong organizational skills while working on multiple projects and completing high-quality work against strict and conflicting deadlines.
    • Excellent content judgment. Information graphics experience a plus.
    • Subject knowledge of higher education preferred.
