  • Responsibilities

    The Research Laboratory Technician is a full-time position, and the primary responsibility is to carry out research procedures under the direction of the PI; secondarily work with/assist research fellows in ongoing research studies supervision. This includes collection of and accurate recording of procedures and results, maintenance of databases used in the lab, ordering necessary reagents to conduct experiments, and participation as needed in joint upkeep of the lab. The Research project is focused on molecular mechanisms by which the microbiome enhances oral cancer progression. Mouse studies will be carried out at a collaborating institution. Bacterial and animal samples will need to be transported periodically to and from BUMC and collaborating institution.

    Required Skills

    B.S. or B.A. in a biological science with at least one to two years of postgraduate relevant work experience is required, and/or a Master's degree in a biological science. Basic molecular biology techniques will include RNA and DNA isolation and quantitation, PCR/qPCR, agarose gel electrophoresis.is required. Experience handling mice in an approved facility and experience with tissue harvesting is required Drivers license and car a plus
