COMMUNICATION SPECIALIST, MASSHEALTH, School of Public Health, Law, Policy & Management
The Department of Health, Law, Policy, and Management (HLPM) is seeking a Communications Specialist to join our team full time (40 hrs/wk). The HLPM Department conducts research on a broad range of challenges in the American health care systemincluding health outcomes measurement, health economics, and health reform. The Communications Specialist will work closely with the HLPM Department Chair and team members at Boston University and Boston Medical Center to assist in the development and implementation of communications campaigns for the HEALing Communities Study (HCS). Funded by the National Institute on Drug Abuse, in partnership with the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, the goal of HCS is to reduce opioid overdose deaths by 40% in some of the most heavily impacted Massachusetts communities. The study partners with 16 communities across Massachusetts to test the impact of a community-engaged intervention with an integrated set of evidence-based practices delivered across healthcare, behavioral health, justice, and other community-based settings. The Communications Specialist will work closely with Boston Medical Centers Clinical Addiction Research and Education (CARE) Unit. The CARE Unit conducts research, educates health professionals, provides health care, and informs clinical and public health practice and policy to improve addiction treatment and care delivery.
Responsibilities:
Collaborate with the Project Director and Project Manager in the development of communications-related deliverables (e.g. review of manuals, organize learning collaboratives, compile and synthesize feedback). Guidance is set broadly by the national mission but will be executed locally by the Communication Specialist as a lead contributor (40%)
Coordinate communications team meetings and the preparation of meeting minutes and presentations (10%)
Participate in and report back on internal and national project meetings; frequently serve as the representative of the Boston Communications team for internal and external meetings (15%)
Organize and manage Google Analytics data for campaign, creation of graphics and dissemination of data to communities (10%)
Coordinate collection of community-specific campaign ad adaptations (25%)
