  • Responsibilities

    We are looking for a post-doctoral associate to develop novel ultrasensitive gas sensors based on nanoelectromechanical systems (NEMS). The position is in the Ekinci Group at BU Mechanical Engineering Department. General information about the group is available at www.bu.edu/nems

     

    TYPICAL DUTIES

    • Functionalize NEMS devices.
    • Set up a measurement chamber for delivering gases to NEMS sensors.
    • Perform phase-sensitive lock-in PLL measurements on NEMS sensors.
    • Present progress to sponsor, publish manuscripts and attend conferences.

     

    Required Skills

    • PhD degree in Engineering, Physics or a related field.
    • A strong experimental background (e.g., sensitive metrology, RF electronics, MEMS/NEMS, resonance measurements).
    • Some experience with basic chemical functionalization of surfaces.
    • Excellent communication skills.
