    ABOUT THE ROLE

    Boston University’s Center for Career Development and Educational Resource Center seek a Peer Engagement Coordinator. The Peer Engagement Coordinator is responsible for coordinating the recruiting, hiring, training, scheduling, and supervising of the paraprofessional CCD/ERC student ambassador workforce (approximately 12-16 students annually). The goals of the student ambassador program include engaging students and encouraging proper utilization of services, events, and programming from the Educational Resource Center (ERC) and the Center for Career Development (CCD), and delivering those services, events, and programs as prescribed. The Peer Engagement Coordinator supports the development, and administration of a student ambassador training curriculum which ensures that the ambassadors properly represent the two departments and effectively present the full depth and breadth of CCD/ERC programs, events, and services to students while encouraging their participation. Regular participation in evening and weekend events across campus and adaptability to a flexible work schedule are requirements of this position.

     

    The Peer Engagement Coordinator works with student ambassadors and reports to the Center for Career Development and Educational Resource Center jointly. This role reports to the Manager of Peer Engagement_._

     

    The Peer Engagement Coordinator’s primary duties include:

    • Planning, scheduling, and oversight of daily drop-in resume and cover letter review services and other programming;
    • Designing, creating, and maintaining a vibrant and inviting atmosphere in the Student Support Center to attract student engagement;
    • Ensuring that daily programming is relevant and timely to students' needs;
    • Management of the professional intake process that ensures that students feel welcome and at ease and receive quick, efficient, and helpful service;
    • Monitoring the effectiveness of existing programs and making appropriate recommendations to the Engagement Manager regarding new program offerings;
    • Meeting informally with individual students in the Center to advise them regarding their academic and career needs and goals, referring them to other CCD-ERC and campus resources when appropriate;
    • Oversight of communication initiatives (including workshops, presentations, in-person meetings, phone calls, emails, various social media tools, print publications, posters, mailings, etc.) that provide outreach to and engagement with students (current, incoming, and prospective), their families, and other members of the BU community;
    • Oversight of the gathering of data regarding program delivery and participation in current CCD/ERC programs, events, services, and outreach initiatives, and compilation of those data to assist the Manager of Peer Engagement in preparing relevant metrics, dashboards, and reports distributed to CCD/ERC and ENSA leadership and other senior University administrators;
    • Assisting the Manager of Peer Engagement in evaluating the effectiveness of current programs, and in suggesting new initiatives based on findings and analysis, and;
    • Representing the ERC and CCD at workshops, presentations, events, meetings, and committees/working groups.

     

    ABOUT THE ORGANIZATION

    The Center for Career Development (CCD) and Educational Resource Center (ERC), which serve all undergraduate and graduate students, are part of the Enrollment & Student Administration unit (ENSA).

     

    The CCD’s services and resources are designed to assist students and alumni in making intentional decisions about their professional futures, building purposeful lives, and pursuing their career goals while adapting to a changing world.

     

    The ERC plays a critical role in ENSA’s mission, providing academic support programming for both undergraduate and graduate students. The ERC provides peer tutoring in close to 100 undergraduate courses, writing support, academic skills advising and workshops that cover a wide variety of academic themes.
