    Boston University’s Metropolitan College seeks a dynamic and creative faculty member with expertise in criminal justice to join its nationally recognized Department of Applied Social Sciences (http://www.bu.edu/met/academic-community/departments/applied-social-sciences/), starting July or September 1, 2020. The Department is a leader in providing undergraduate and graduate education in the applied social sciences offered in flexible delivery formats including face-to-face, blended, and online. The department believes that the cultural and social diversity of our faculty, staff, and students is vitally important to the distinction and excellence of our research and academic programs. To that end, we are especially eager to have a colleague who supports our institutional commitment to ensuring BU is inclusive, equitable, and diverse join our ranks.

    Faculty duties include teaching up to six courses at the graduate and undergraduate levels, including blended and online courses, conducting active research, participation in course and curriculum development, mentoring part-time faculty and students, as well as providing service to the department, college and the university. This is a full-time, non-tenure track appointment at the rank of Associate Professor, with a 2-5 year renewable contract.

    Required Skills

    The successful candidate must hold a terminal degree in criminal justice or a closely related discipline and have demonstrated success in designing and teaching graduate and undergraduate-level courses. Experience in online and blended formats is a plus. Candidates should show promise in establishing a funded-research and publication track, and have experience in quantitative/mixed methods research that readily informs scholarly discourse and practice in the field. We also welcome applications from candidates with professional and industry experience in addition to the terminal degree.
