The majority of daily work consists of creating and maintaining recruitment relationships with prospective domestic and international students through digital means (social networking, email, instant messaging, Twitter, Zoom) as well as over the phone. Additional responsibilities include planning visits and meeting with prospective students who travel to the School of Theology; helping to create in-house recruitment events; independently planning, implementing and following through on recruitment trips including events, universities, and colleges nationwide. The Enrollment Officer and ISSO Liaison also helps transition incoming students to the School of Theology and Boston area, especially helping them secure decent, affordable housing and supporting international students with their ISSO materials.

    Essential functions include:

    • Remain responsible for prospective student development through digital means (email, Zoom, social media, online newsletters, etc.), as well as on-campus (meeting with visitors, creating a culture of hospitality in the Admissions Office).
    • Maintain a close recruitment relationship with the prospective students who apply by regular phone calls, written notes, emails, and personal attention in an effort to move an applicant through the application process toward matriculation.
    • Support the Director of Enrollment in reviewing applications. Provide a preliminary review in the online system, confirming completion and offering a first review and written synopsis of the applicant.
    • Support all international students, serving as the ISSO Liaison by completing the ISSO application for each student, staying up to date on ISSO policies and procedures, and working in coordination with Boston University's ISSO Office.
    • Plan, implement, and follow-up on a series of six to seven recruitment trips per year; attend denominational meetings and make connections with local churches; liaise with the campus chaplains, faculty, and staff of other institutions for recruitment purposes.
    • Work with STH faculty, staff, and alumni/ae (in conjunction with the STH Development Office) to develop new applicant sources, particularly applicants from historically under- represented communities.
    • Coordinate with the University's Housing Office and local landlords to help all incoming students secure housing.
    • Oversee housing placements for Theology House and Beane House, as well as hire and support program coordinators for each respective house, in an effort to foster intentional communities.
