  • Responsibilities

    The College of Fine Arts seeks an Executive Director for the Wheelock Family Theatre. This position provides overall leadership and executive oversight of Wheelock Family Theatre at Boston University, a professional theatre company with a robust theatre arts education program. Established in 1981, Wheelock Family Theatre at Boston University (WFT) has provided affordable and award-winning, professional theatre and theatre arts education to families in the greater Boston area through an unwavering commitment to inclusion, diversity, and access. In partnership with a staff of professional artists and arts administrators, the Executive Director is responsible for creating a strategic vision that fulfills WFT@BUs artistic, educational, and social justice purposes. This position provides fundamental oversight of the WFT Production/Performance program and the WFT Education program; selects the mainstage season productions and ensures its artistic excellence and financial viability; regularly directs for the Mainstage Season; serves as Chair to the Board of Advisors; cultivates relationships with donors and foundations; engages with communities in the greater Boston area; and represents WFT@BU in the local and national professional theatre field. Reports to the Dean of the College of Fine Arts. Supervises 2 full time exempt staff.

    Required Skills

    • B.A./B.S. required
    • Strong administrative, communication and interpersonal skills
    • Five to eight years of relevant work experience
    • Background in managing theatre arts programs is a must
