CARB-X has an unparalleled opportunity for a talented individual to join our core team at Boston University in the role of Accelerator Alliance Manager. CARB-X is a young entrepreneurial endeavor, focused on accelerating the pre-clinical development of products to address antibiotic resistance, including drugs, vaccines and diagnostics. The scope of CARB-X work includes soliciting applications for funding from external organizations, evaluating applications, granting awards, supporting awardees, and monitoring progress. Approximately $500M has already been committed to this work, and over 500 applications for funding have been processed. CARB-X has more than 25 innovative therapeutic and diagnostic projects in the portfolio already and will continue to grow rapidly. One of the unique value propositions of CARB-X is the focus on active support to companies beyond the financial investment in a project. The Accelerator Alliance Manager position is a leadership role responsible for managing the overall package of services to the portfolio of CARB-X companies and even to applicants not yet in the portfolio. The CARB-X Accelerator Alliance Manager helps define the range of company needs, collaborates with support organizations to develop support options, and ensures all companies in the portfolio are informed of and utilize these benefits. The types of services include: direct support to individual companies; support across companies to address common needs; and community development. The CARB-X Global Accelerator Network (GAN) is currently comprised of ten world-class accelerators across six countries with their own missions and their own operating models. Effective leadership of this group will require an understanding of what is required to develop a pharmaceutical or biotech product to combat antibiotic resistant bacteria; a sophisticated understanding of accelerators and incubators; and advanced leadership skills. CARB-X is a fast-paced environment where creativity, flexibility, and collaboration are essential. In this role, you will work as part of a dedicated CARB-X core team and with BU central offices, to achieve goals and maximize the overall effectiveness of the program. You will interact with diverse product development teams and accelerator partners, U.S. and other governmental and non-governmental funding partners, and the global anti-microbial resistance community. This is a full-time, grant-funded position, located on the Charles River Campus of Boston University. CARB-X is currently in Year 3 of 5 of its principal grant funding.
