    Boston University is currently seeking a full-time, permanent Programmer Analyst III to join its Research Administration team within the Information Services & Technology. As a member of the team, the Programmer Analyst III will collaborate with others to deliver proactive problem-solving and efficient service management processes for Research Administration, including service request fulfillment, enhancement, incident response, problem management, and service sustainability and continuity. Additionally, this individual will be responsible for monitoring performance and quality control plans to identify areas for improvement. The Programmer Analyst III will work with a variety of platforms and programming languages for development purposes.

    JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Analyze, design, improve, deploy, and support University Research Administration applications, services, and interfaces.
    • Employ appropriate debugging techniques to optimally resolve application defects and problems by conducting a detailed analysis of the system.
    • Assist in the development of SQL queries, tables, functions, procedures, packages, and triggers to contribute to the overall success of the database management system.
    • Collaborate with management to prioritize business and information requirements.
    • Create a work environment that promotes knowledge, respect, and skill development to engage with people from diverse cultures or backgrounds.
    • Maintain competence and stay up-to-date by engaging in self-directed professional reading, creating professional contacts with colleagues, attending professional development courses, and participating in training and/or courses.

    Required Skills

    • A Bachelor's or Master's degree in computer science, information systems, business, or a related field is required. Equivalent work experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
    • Five to eight years of programming experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
    • Demonstrated proficiency in design and programming, including expertise in procedural, object-oriented, web development, and functional programming concepts.
    • Must also have experience in at least two of the following programming languages: Java, JavaScript, XML, PL/SQL, T-SQL, Python, Ruby, C/C+, or C#.
    • Strong logical analysis skills and the ability to think creatively.
    • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
