The Department of Mechanical Engineering at Boston University seeks an Instructor to support our educational mission and enhance the student experience. This position has two main roles: technical instructor in ENG EK 210: Introduction to Engineering Design and laboratory support, primarily for ENG ME 310: Instrumentation and Theory of Experiments.

EK210 is a collegewide course focusing on learning and applying a design process. Course projects are generally electromechanical in nature and involve sensing and actuation. The instructor serves as the main project consultant over multiple sections, guiding student teams in the design of circuitry, codes, CAD, and material selection. They share best practices for soldering, wiring, coding, and other tasks, and work with undergraduate TAs in purchasing components and stocking and maintaining the supply closet. In a typical semester they are assisting roughly 40 groups working on 5-8 different products and collaborating with lead faculty.

ME310 is an upper-level course that teaches experimental design, data acquisition, and data and experimental uncertainty analysis for measurement of mechanical engineering phenomena, leveraging prerequisite knowledge of fundamental mechanical engineering topics. Based on the theory taught in the lecture, students work in 3-4 person groups in a weekly lab section that is comprised of four separate lab investigations and a month-long design project. The Instructor oversees, maintains, and updates the lab exercises and lab environment based on modern experimental and pedagogical investigation techniques.
