  • Responsibilities

    The BUSPH Career & Practicum Office is committed to providing exceptional and equitable service to masters and doctoral students and alumni as they embark on practicum and job searches, seek career advancement at their current organizations, and pursue other career development goals.

     

    Additionally, the CPO is committed to establishing BUSPH as a source of top talent for public health employers locally, nationally and internationally. As a critical member of the CPO team, the Assistant Director, Career Advising and Employer Engagement will develop and implement a strategy to increase new graduate placement for assigned student populations in 2-4 MPH Certificates and MS programs as well as support students in their journeys to obtain a required practicum.

    Required Skills

    Qualifications (Minimum education & experience level required):

    • 5-8 years of combined experience in career and internship advising and relationship management
    • Solid understanding of current hiring processes for entry to mid-career opportunities
    • Experience recruiting for public health and/or healthcare organizations strongly preferred
    • Experience working with diverse populations
    • Masters Degree strongly preferred

    Skill requirements (include complexity of position):

    • Demonstrated success in building relationships with hiring managers and recruiters
    • Solid career advising background including all phases of job search process
    • Ability to develop a strategic relationship plan to engage employers and practicum host sites and meet target goals

     

    Interpersonal skills (include personal interaction):

    • Collaborative style; easily able to build rapport with diverse stakeholder groups
    • Intuitive; recognizes and seizes opportunities for candidate referrals and partnerships
    • Excellent communicator, both verbal and written
    • Cross-culturally competent; enjoys working with diverse populations
    • Patient and encouraging nature as it relates to career advising
    • Sense of humor
    • Note: Must be able to work some evenings and occasional weekends.
