  • Responsibilities

     

    The Laboratory of Addiction Genetics, headed by Dr. Camron D. Bryant in the department of Pharmacology and Experimental Therapeutics and Psychiatry, seeks to hire a technician for the lab. The Bryant Lab employs behavioral, genetic and -omics analysis to understand the genetic basis of model traits in rodents that are relevant to substance use disorders and addiction and eating disorders. 

     

    Primary responsibilities for this position include assisting and independently executing molecular and behavioral studies in mice and rats. The technician will be responsible for assisting PhD Students in wet-lab activities (dissections, DNA & RNA extractions, genotyping, survival surgeries, immunoblotting) and mouse behavioral experiments and there will be  opportunities to have their own independent project. There is opportunity for the technician to train with PhD students in statistical and computational analysis of behavioral, genetic and -omics datasets, pending abilities and interest.

     

    Additional responsibilities include setting up new undergraduate and graduate student researchers to work in the lab (paperwork, online training, animal/lab access, safety), ordering supplies and equipment, purchasing supplies and equipment, managing adherence to institutional rules and regulations (IACUC, EHS, controlled substances training), and assisting the PI in preparing materials for manuscript submission. Some experience in conducting wet-lab experiments and working with rodents (mice or rats) is required.

     

    Required Skills

    Bachelor’s degree and 1-3 years of experience required.
