    The HISTORY DEPARTMENT AT BOSTON UNIVERSITY invites applications for a tenured position at the level of Associate/Full Professor in the history of the African American experience prior to 1900, beginning Fall 2023. The position will be a joint appointment with the Department of History and the African American Studies Program.

     

    We seek candidates with expertise in any aspect of the pre-1900 African American experience, including Afro-Indigenous History.  Candidates should demonstrate a commitment to excellence in research, teaching, and service or institution building. Responsibilities include teaching undergraduate and graduate core courses and in fields of specialization.
