  • Responsibilities

    The Assistant Director for Finance and Administration manages and oversees the financial, Human Resources , and general administrative operations of Animal Research Services (ARS) within the NEIDL. This position provides direct service to researchers, research staff, and ARS animal care staff. This position also works closely with central office staff such as Research Compliance, Budget, PAFO, and the service center administration by assisting in the resolution of a wide range of complex problems, many of which will involve multiple University offices, and which may have sensitive research and financial components. As a service center, the daily tasks of this position involve detailed understanding and monitoring of operating and capital expense budgets as well as an equally important revenue budget.

     

    The Assistant Director works closely with the ASC Director/Attending Vet in the overall management of the business office and provides analyses, projections, and recommendations concerning animal housing, services, facility needs, and all other the activities overseen by ARS to assist in maintaining and improving the overall facility and the services provided. Participates in senior ARS management to monitor the overall effectiveness of the facility from a budget and staffing perspective and makes recommendations about alterations to SOPs pertaining to staffing models, budgets, and system upgrades. The Assistant Director is responsible for maintaining regulatory compliance.

    Required Skills

    • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience required; Master's Degree preferred.
    • At least 8 years of similar experience.
    • Excellent attention to detail required.
