Boston University's Sargent College of Health and Rehabilitation Sciences is one of the country's leading schools of health and rehabilitation sciences. Home to more than 1,000 undergraduate and 550 graduate students, Sargent College combines outstanding faculty and cutting-edge research to provide superb education and clinical experiences. The college has more than 35 on-campus research facilities, clinical centers, and labs. It offers top-ranked degree programs in occupational therapy, physical therapy, speech, language and hearing sciences, health science, human physiology, behavior and health, and nutrition.

The Center for Psychiatric Rehabilitation, situated within Sargent College, has been devoted to improving the lives of individuals with psychiatric conditions for over 40 years. Our Research, Training, and Services divisions work to achieve this goal by researching and developing new interventions, by disseminating new advancements and programs to the field, and by providing programming that teaches critical skills to promote success in whatever goals our participants may have as students, workers, and citizens.

The Center's Services division is currently inviting applicants for a Training Associate position, which will split time between the Centers Recovery Education Program, for adults with psychiatric and behavioral challenges, and the College Mental Health Education Programs (CMHEP), a group of programs which address mental health for young adults and their families from an educational/non-clinical perspective. Critical skills include teaching skills (planning, writing, implementing, modifying and delivering curriculum) and interpersonal abilities (the use of active listening, empathy, motivational interviewing, cognitive-behavioral strategies and techniques).

    Essential functions:

    • Teach both in a classroom setting and in online webinars, using developed curriculums and assisting in the development of new class curriculums and seminars that build knowledge, skills and strategies that support people to thrive.
    • Coach, advise, advocate for, and mentor individuals in CMHEP.
    • Provide training and support to other educational and mental health professionals to support people with behavioral health conditions and their families.

The Training Associate will sustain and support a culture that celebrates the diversity of individuals and ideas, which values accountability, collaboration, and innovation. The Center believes that the cultural and social diversity of our faculty and staff is vitally important to the distinction and excellence of all our work. To that, we are especially eager to add to our team a colleague who supports our commitment to ensuring the Center is inclusive, equitable, diverse, and a place where all constituents can thrive. The Center seeks to continue diversifying our staff, recognizing that diversity of experience and thought strengthens the work that we do and the value we bring to every community we serve.
