    We invite job seekers looking to make their mark in the busy and welcoming Department of Economics to apply for our Department Manager position. This position is available as early as October 17, 2022. Our growing department has a highly ranked international research reputation and is one of the largest and most popular departments with Boston University students.

     

    As the Department Manager, you will oversee a staff of nine, administer budgets and programs to implement our research and teaching missions, and support the staff in the day-to-day operations of a dynamic academic program. The Department Manager role coordinates priorities within the department, delegates work to staff members and evaluates their success, manages hiring of staff including work-study students, and leads new initiatives to support department priorities. Tasks include implementing purchases for faculty research projects, planning budgets and generating budget reports, and addressing issues with the building and facilities. The Department Manager is a trusted leader that works closely with the Chair of the department and interfaces regularly with all Economics faculty leaders (directors) and their administrative counterparts. Managerial and leadership duties rely on clear and effective communication and strong organization skills. Administrative tasks require a facility with spreadsheet programs and an attention to detail.
