    ESSENTIAL DUTIES OF POSITION

    The following duties are normal for this position. These are not construed as exclusive or all inclusive. Other duties may be assigned, as necessary.


    MAJOR POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES

    (Essential duties for which this position is responsible.)

    • Operates wastewater system, lift stations, settling tanks, etc. to provide compliance with applicable state and federal regulations; conducts routine inspections of all related facilities
    • Operates monitors and adjusts chemical dosage control.
    • Operates monitors and controls the process to meet demands.
    • Inspects all equipment and process areas.
    • Collects wastewater samples and conducts field tests and analysis to maintain proper quality control.
    • Perform maintenance and repair work on plant facilities, pumps and related equipment.
    • Monitors facilities and equipment to identify and repair any malfunction.
    • Creates work orders for specific tasks and monitors records of progress and completion.
    • Takes and records system operation readings according to prescribed schedules.
    • Maintain daily logs, records plant operating data as required in logs and operations software.
    • Performs maintenance of the wastewater system including maintain and calibrating hand=held and on-line monitoring equipment and treatment equipment as required.
    • Performs general housekeeping duties
    • Follows OSI Oakland environmental, health and safety policies and reports unsafe conditions.
    • Maintains regular and punctual attendance working hours.
    • Regularly lifts up to 25 pounds and occasionally lifts up to 50 pounds.
    • Willing to work weekends and holidays as needed.

    MINIMIUM TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE PREFERRED TO PERFORM ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

    Graduation from standard high school or GED, preferable including course work in algebra, chemistry and biology; and experience working in a wastewater treatment facility or any combination of experience and training which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities. Obtain an Iowa Grade I Wastewater Operator Certificate within two years of hire.

    EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/SKILLS

    High School Diploma or GED preferred.

    One-year certificate from college or technical school or three to six months related experience/training.

  • Qualifications

    A cover letter and resume are required for consideration.

    • 3-5 year of experience, preferably in higher education.
    • Master's degree in higher education, student affairs, international affairs, or another relevant field.
    • Prior experience in academic advising and/or student life preferred.
