    About the Role

    Boston University Undergraduate Admissions seeks an Assistant Director of Admissions and Immigration. This is a unique position within the Office of Admissions as the role has several functions encompassing key skills for those interested in the area of international education. They serve as a member of Board of Admissions reviewing candidates for freshman and transfer admission from an applicant pool of 82,000 with a particular focus on the 13,500 international students. This position is required to holistically review and evaluate applications for admission, participate in our committee process, and identify potential scholarship candidates. This includes reviewing secondary school curricula around the world and awarding advanced credit to those incoming students who are eligible. Additionally, this role will engage directly with prospective students, providing information about Boston University both at our Admissions Reception Center as well as via email and phone. During specific times in the admissions cycle, this role will approve more than 2,000 international admission decisions and determine a student’s eligibility for an I-20 Form. This role is engaged with several campus stakeholders including the Admissions Office, the ISSO and CELOP.

    The person in this position is expected to participate in the efforts of our office to build a strong and diverse applicant pool and commit to principles of antiracism, diversity, equity and inclusion in the college search and application process. Evening and weekend hours are necessary for some of the calendar year.

    • Has 3-5 years of directly-related experience or relevant experience at the Tertiary level;
    • Excellent organization and task management skills;
    • Possesses strong public speaking skills;
    • Can demonstrate excellent interpersonal skills;
    • Is a strong written and oral communicator, and;
    • Has a valid driver’s license and US Passport
