  • Responsibilities

    Contribute to the success of the Research Compliance team with leadership and subject matter expertise in highly technical and regulated areas.

     

    This role reports to the Executive Director for Research Integrity and Assurance and leads a small team of two. This position is responsible for the development, oversight, and monitoring of the University's Export Control Program.

     

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

    • Promote and facilitate compliance with federal, state and local laws and regulations, and BU Policies and Procedures.
    • Provide guidance and strategic consultation to faculty, staff and administration on decisions that have import/export impact and serve as the primary point of contact for Boston University for all export control matters.
    • Develop and lead the export control program to ensure compliance with the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR), Export Administration Regulations (EAR), and Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) requirements, and the Federal Acquisition Regulations (FAR) as Applicable.
    • Provide training and guidance to faculty and staff in all export control related matters.
    • Develop and maintain policies and procedures that involve import/export activities.
    • Assist with the development, oversight and monitoring of the research compliance functions of other areas within the Office of Research Compliance, which include but are not limited to: institutional biosafety, lab safety, and animal care and use.

    Required Skills

    Bachelor's degree required with five to eight years' work experience, preferably in export control in a University setting. Related export control experience considered in substitution.

     

    Proven knowledge of relevant Federal regulations, including those pursuant to EAR, ITAR and OFAC.

  • Qualifications
