INTERNATIONAL DEVELOPMENT GIFT OFFICER, Development & Alumni Relations
OUR MISSION
We in Boston University Development & Alumni Relations (DAR) harness the power of philanthropy to make an excellent education accessible and welcoming to all, and to advance BU’s global leadership in research, scholarship, artistic creation, and professional practice. To support our work, we have built—and are continuing to build—an outstanding team of dynamic, mission-driven advancement professionals who constantly strive to create an environment where everyone belongs. Where it’s not just about a job, but a career and a community.
Now, our GLOBAL LEADERSHIP team is looking for an INTERNATIONAL DEVELOPMENT GIFT OFFICER who will use creative and sophisticated identification, cultivation, and solicitation methods for solicitation of gifts of $100K and above from individuals, foundations, friends, and corporations, with a focus on the discovery of new high-net-worth international prospects.
GLOBAL LEADERSHIP DEVELOPMENT AT BOSTON UNIVERSITY
The Global Leadership Development (GLD) team works with the Senior Vice President on securing major, leadership and principal level gifts for Boston University from our global philanthropists, partnering closely with University leadership. Their work centers on identifying prospects through discovery and in partnership with our research team to develop tactical strategies to engage them. These prospect engagement plans require collaboration with our development teams at our seventeen schools and colleges, and often involve mapping out high- level cultivation and solicitation of high-net-worth individuals, leading to philanthropic investments that create impactful and meaningful change.
INTERNATIONAL DEVELOPMENT GIFT OFFICER
Reporting to the Assistant Vice President, International Giving, the International Development Gift Officer (IDGO), will need to travel opportunistically under guidance from AVP-International, to discover and engage donors for the University’s upcoming campaign. The individual is knowledgeable on the nuances of international fundraising and able to build individual donor relationships for themself, the president, provost, and deans, and develop an annual operating plan and a three-year strategy for international donor discovery and engagement. The IDGO actively supports and plans development travel of the university president and deans when opportunity arises, campus visits for donor cultivation and international high-profile meetings and events hosted by university and international alumni leadership, for example the International Advisory Board, presidential luncheons and “Evening with the Dean” series. The International Gift Officer collaborates extensively with other Development and Alumni Relations (DAR) stakeholders including those in Major Gifts, School Development, Special Initiatives, and Alumni Engagement. The IDGO works closely with International Alumni Relations, and both guides and supports, international alumni relations strategy, plans developed by existing international leadership councils as well as help build new leadership councils, where feasible.
