  • Responsibilities

    This position will be part of the new Brain tissue Repository Oversight Committee (BROC) initiative. BROC is responsible for evaluating requests, with support from the FHS Brain Aging Program (BAP) team, for the use of autopsy brain tissue from Framingham Heart Study (FHS) donors and in doing so enabling the distribution of brain tissue samples to the widest scientific community for cutting edge research on brain aging and dementia. This position will conduct tissue dissections and harvesting, packaging and shipping, updating tracking inventory to support requests submitted to BROC, and resolving any neuropath data errors identified by quality control checks by the FHS-BAP Data Core. Additional responsibilities include working with the FHS-BAP team in the BROC workflow coordination and maintaining a detailed brain tissue inventory that can then be queried via an online inquiry system being built by the BU SAIL team. There will be opportunities for collaboration and participation in brain tissue research studies including manuscript preparation.

    Required Skills

    • Bachelor's Degree
    • 1-2 years of experience
    • Lab experience (via course work, internships, etc.)
    • Programming skills for data management and analysis: SAS, R, SPSS or Python

    Preferred:

    • Work experience in neuroscience or a related field
    • Experience in SAS is preferred
