QUALIFICATIONS: Candidates must have earned a Bachelors and/or Masters degree and have a New York State teaching certificate in Theatre. It is required that candidates must attach a PDF or a screen shot of their certifications. * Minimum 3 years of previous experience in a performing arts and/or education setting * Passion for working with youth and adults in class and in an extra-curricular setting * Proven track record of theatre, dance, or vocal music teaching experience * Exceptional written and verbal communication skills * Strong management skills and the ability to oversee multiple projects successfully * Strong ability to manage and maintain budgets effectively * Must work well in a fast-paced, dynamic work environment * Ability to work substantial weekend and evening hours required * Demonstrated experience directing dramas and musical theatre RESPONSIBILITIES:Under the direction of the Building Principal, candidate will be responsible for: * Development of Middle School and High School Theatre syllabi, lesson plans, and assessments based upon the New York State Learning Standards and applicable Common Core Learning Standards * Teaching theatre/drama classes to the students that are assigned on a daily basis * Keeping of daily attendance reports and student grades * Assisting in auditions/admissions process; and planning of the school plays and musicals * Producing and directing musicals and drama productions at the middle and high school levels * Attendance at all faculty meetings, Theatre Arts Department meetings, pre- and post-planning events, and any other meeting as mandated by the administration * Conduct afterschool and weekend rehearsals and productions * Assist with scheduling, planning, and facilitation of production team meetings * Theater student supervision in all classroom activities including, but not limited to the Main stage and Blackbox theatre, House, Backstage, and Control Booths during Productions/Performances * Assist in developing production budgets and ordering of supplies * Casting and staging of the school plays and musicals in conjunction with theatre department colleagues for matinee and evening performances * For each show: directing, organizing, designing and maintaining production support including scenery, staging, stage crew, sound and lighting * Supervise and run all required public performances * Procure and maintain equipment and supplies necessary in producing a wide variety of programs and special events, assist in maintaining a small scene shop and scenery storage area * Work with and collaborate with other fine arts teachers to develop reasonable and creative production plans; should have experience in drama, musical theatre, dance, music concerts, and combined event production * Design or supervise the design of all scenery and lighting for drama and musical productions * Other duties as assigned APPOINTMENT: Appointment will be made by the Board of Education upon the recommendation of the Superintendent following the assessment of training, experience, credentials, evaluation of service and interview.
