    Want to help tell Boston University's story? Join the Public Relations & Social Media team as Communications Coordinator.

    This position will work with senior PR & Social Media team members and will play an integral role in the execution of public relations efforts and social media campaigns. This role will help to promote Boston University news, faculty expertise, and research, as well as highlight BUs strategic priorities and institutional values.

    Duties will include:

    • serving as a representative of the department and Boston University Marketing and Communications;
    • managing the flow of information, including answering the main Public Relations office line as needed, overseeing the central Public Relations email account, and direct flow to appropriate PR staff;
    • managing the department website and expert database;
    • work to identify faculty expertise based on media inquiries;
    • manage the day-to-day posts for BUExperts, execute outreach to promote awareness for upcoming events and BU stories and news, develop original content, as needed;
    • monitor media coverage, social media messages and BU news for content sharing and distribution opportunities.

    Required Skills

    • Bachelor's degree with of 1-3 years of related internship or work experience in communications, journalism, marketing, or related field.
    • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
    • Outstanding attention to detail.
    • Knowledge of social media platforms and media monitoring services.
    • Maturity, good judgment, and the ability to exercise discretion when handling confidential or sensitive information.
    • Eagerness to learn.
    • Ability to work in partnership with the PR & Social Media team and editorial colleagues.
    • Independently spot and follow trends in the news and have general knowledge of Boston University affairs.
    • Knowledge of WordPress and design tools (Adobe Spark, Canva, Photoshop) is a plus.
