    Experience : 0 Description : POSITION DETAILSThe Radiologic Technology Program at Hostos Community College is designed to provide students, who will work under the direction of a radiologist, with the essential skills needed to use ionizing radiation as a means of determining the nature of disease or injury. Students participate in classroom lectures, in activities in the department's energized laboratory, and in clinical experiences at affiliate hospitals. Learning approaches include the use of audio tapes, radiographic films, slides, computers, and laboratory assignments. Students will be required to adhere to all regulations and policies as outlined in the Radiologic Technology Student Handbook. Clinical education commences in the spring semester of the freshman year and continues through the six-semester program. The Radiologic Technology Program is accredited by The New York State Department of Health, Bureau of Environmental Radiation Protection, and The Joint Review Committee on Education in Radiologic Technology.The Radiologic Technology Department seeks applications for an Academic Internship Specialist. Under the supervision of the department chair, the selected candidate will integrate the educational and clinical components of the program to provide the radiography student with a complete and comprehensive clinical experience. This position is responsible for the coordination of the clinical phase of the radiological technology program. Additional responsibilities are as follows:* Supervises students' clinical experiences at six affiliate hospitals.* Visits each clinical affiliate on a regular basis to ensure compliance with state and national accreditation guidelines.* Reviews radiation exposure reports and evaluates radiation safety procedures at each clinical site.* Coordinates responsibilities and clinical activities for teaching adjuncts.* Maintains the clinical handbook and ensures that information is up to date.QUALIFICATIONSBachelor's degree and four years' related experience required.The following qualifications are preferred:* Proficiency in curriculum development, supervision, instruction and counseling* Ability to document the equivalent of two years full time teaching experience in the professional discipline* Ability to document a minimum of one year of experience as an instructor in a JRCERT accredited program* Certification by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologist and registered in the proper discipline* Bilingual skills in English and Spanish* Availability to work evening and weekend hoursCUNY TITLE OVERVIEWSupports an academic internship program providing career development and professional work experience.* Acts as liaison between the College and employer sponsors, monitoring the success of students' internship experiences* Supervises student internships, assuring adherence to related College and governmental policies and regulations* Creates and conducts orientation sessions and workshops for students in the internship program; coordinates applications, interviews, and placement as part of overall student outreach* Provides faculty orientation and development related to internship programs* Implements and evaluates competencies and other success factors* Performs related duties as assigned.CUNY TITLEHigher Education AssistantFLSAExemptCOMPENSATION AND BENEFITS$58,555 - $68,351; commensurate with education and experience.CUNY's benefits contribute significantly to total compensation, supporting health and wellness, financial well-being, and professional development.
