Major Duties Under general supervision, the Activities Coordinator, Fraternity and Sorority Life supports the fraternity and sorority community (or Greek system) at CSUN. The incumbent provides advisement and program support to the Independent Greek Council (IGC), National PanHellenic Council (NPHC) and the United Sorority and Fraternity Council (USFC) by attending weekly and/or bi-weekly meetings of the executive council and general body, one-on-one meetings with council offers, and assists with all aspects of council program and leadership development; reviews and approves recruitment and intake plans for chapters in IGC, NPHC and USFC seeking to recruit new members; meets with chapter leadership each semester to review chapter scholarship reports; attends council presidents meetings and advises council in absence of the Coordinator; communicates with chapter's regional and/or national offices as appropriate; meets with Coordinator and national and/or regional consultants as necessary; supports councils in implementation of university policies, procedures and expectations; supports groups by attending major events as directed by supervisor; advises Gamma Sigma Alpha and Order of Omega honor societies and supports and/or coordinates inductions programs as necessary; participates in regional Greek Consortium meetings and other opportunities to connect with advisors in the fraternity and sorority community; develops and implements comprehensive new member education programming; posts initiation/crossing workshops; develops marketing efforts geared towards hazing education and prevention campaign; plans and organizes the annual Hazing Prevention Week programming; participates on the campus hazing prevention committee; responsible for updating the New Member Matador Greek Handbook; assists in developing an annual advisor training program; responsible for the development of advisor handbook and other educational resources; supports the development and design of fraternity and sorority web pages and social media accounts; works with campus partners annually to review curriculum for Pre-Education, Recruitment Program (PREP); monitors online PREP completion rates and verifies students complete the program prior to receiving any invitation for membership; utilizes MataSync and other online platforms to deliver education content; develops online education tools for students and advisors, as needed; supports clubs and organizations compliant review process as a facilitator and uses technology tool for adjudication of cases; annually develops and implements chapter accreditation program; works to identify education needs by conduction assessment and/or program evaluations, as needed; serves on various departmental, division and campus-wide committees; participates in departments, division, university, committees and special projects, as assigned; and performs other duties as assigned. Qualifications Equivalent to graduation from a four-year college or university in a job-related field. Master's degree preferred. Equivalent to two years of professional experience in student affairs or in a related field. A Master's degree in a job-related field may be substituted for one year of the professional experience. Membership in a fraternity or sorority preferred. Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities Working knowledge of the practices, procedures and activities of the program to which assigned; methods and problems of organizational and program management; research and interview techniques; principles of individual and group behavior. General knowledge of the principles of practices and trends in student affairs. Ability and specialized skills to: possess sound knowledge of student development, theory, principles and practices; understand the principles of individual and group behavior and basic counseling techniques; interpret and apply program rules and regulations; plan, organize and coordinate multiple assignments and projects; develop and implement student programs; train, plan, organize oversee and evaluate the work of others; use initiative and resourcefulness in planning work assignments and in implementing long-range program improvements; obtain factual and interpretative information through interviews; reason logically; collect, compile, analyze and evaluate data and make verbal or written presentations based on these data; advise students individually and in groups on routine matters where required; recognize multicultural, multi-sexed and multi-aged value systems and work accordingly; establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with students, student organizations, campus departments, faculty, CSU administrators, private and public agencies and others in committee work, and student advising and community contacts; communicate effectively orally and in writing; and ability to work independently; and rapidly acquire a general knowledge of the overall operation, functions and programs of the campus to which assigned. The salary range for this classification is: $4179 - $5942 per month. The anticipated HIRING MAX: $4179 HOURS: Full Time; 40 hours per week; 8:00am - 5:00pm, Monday through Friday.
