Position Information This is a full-time (1.0 time-base), benefits eligible, temporary position anticipated to end on or before June 30, 2019, with the possibility of reappointment and/or permanency. This position is designated exempt under FLSA and is not eligible for overtime compensation. Standard SDSU work hours are Monday Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., but may vary based on operational needs. As part of the Center for Student Success in Engineering (CSSE) in the Engineering Student Affairs Office, the CoE Internship Coordinator, under direct supervision of the CSSE Coordinator, works to provide comprehensive career and employment services to engineering students. The CoE Internship Coordinator supplements student classroom learning experiences by supporting the administration of campus programs that ensure student involvement in internships (and related experiential learning opportunities), facilitating the increased involvement of the diverse CoE student body in internships, and by advocating and promoting quality student internship experiences with University staff, faculty and community partners. The CoE Internship Coordinator also addresses employer and community partner inquiries regarding campus internship programs and posting options. The CoE Internship Coordinator is a resource to faculty and staff by providing programing, training, and assistance with internship program management. This position, collaborating with SDSU Career Services, would allow the CoE to effectively facilitate successful internship planning and reporting to include student and employer tracking, etc. In the delivery of the responsibilities, the CoE Internship Coordinator works closely with a number of campus departments and programs including, though not limited to the MESA (Math, Engineering, Science Achievement) Program, Troops to Engineers, Career Services, University Advising Center, ASIR and others to ensure appropriate and accurate career advice/service to students. Work objectives are set by CSSE Coordinator in alignment with CoE mission and in order to assist students with achieving success and timely progress to graduation. CSU Classification Salary Range: $4,179 - $5,942 per month. Salary placement is determined by the education, experience, and qualifications the candidate brings to the position, internal equity, and the hiring department's fiscal resources. Qualifications Minimum Qualifications Equivalent to graduation from a four-year college or university in one of the behavioral sciences, public or business administration or a job-related field. Additional specialized experience during which the applicant has acquired and successfully applied the knowledge and abilities shown below may be substituted for the required education on a year-for-year basis. Possession of the required knowledge and abilities is typically demonstrated through the equivalent of two years of professional experience in one of the student services program areas or in a related field; experience should give evidence of competence and indicate the potential for further growth. A Masters degree in a job-related field may be substituted for one year of the professional experience. Preferred Qualifications and Specialized Skills At least one year work experience at a university, specifically SDSU, in admissions, advising, evaluations, registrar or other student service related office. Proficiency of and experience in MS suite (ACCESS, Word, EXCEL, etc.) Proficiency of and experience in Blackboard, WebPortal, SIMSR, APEX, ASIR, other SDSU student tracking/communication tools. At least one year work experience in collecting and organizing data and/or detailed information for reports and disseminating to diverse audiences of varying sizes. At least one year work experience in a diverse setting, serving a diversity of people. At least one year work experience or background in career or internship counseling. At least one year work experience or background in a STEM program. Degree or experience in a STEM field (specifically, engineering, math, or physics). Working knowledge of updating website content (i.e., Wix site). General knowledge of the procedures and practices related to internships in a University setting. Working knowledge of the major areas of a University including Academic Affairs, Student Affairs, Business Affairs and University Relations and Development.
