    Cambridge International Systems has an immediate career opportunity for a Business Development Director to join our team in Charleston, South Carolina or Arlington, Virginia. Qualified candidates must have strong operations and business acumen to support our growing Advanced Technologies and Services Division (AT&SD). Must be US Citizen, able to obtain a Top Secret security clearance.

    The selected candidate will work with collaborative teams to identify and help acquire new business ventures for AT&SD and its customers.     Reporting to the Executive Vice-President of AT&SD, the Business Development Director acts as the business development lead responsible for developing strategic plans and supporting business captures to grow our market share. The candidate will work with customers and industry partners and draws upon the broader capabilities of AT&SD to be successful.

    The candidate will work in partnership with the AT&SD VP of Strategy & Solutions and will be responsible to develop strategy and support specific captures in accordance with the AT&SD business development process. The candidate should demonstrate extensive experience in having defined and executed successful strategies to grow business. This job is both strategic and tactical and requires substantial leadership in opportunity capture and business strategy and vision as well as an ability to work independently.

    TYPICAL RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:

    • Advises the Executive Team on growth strategies, marketing, and management of resources for future program procurements.
    • Identifies and recommends new business opportunities.
    • Develops and monitors profitability, productivity and growth targets.
    • Develops and administers schedules, performance requirements; responsible for budgets.
    • Responsible for developing assigned staff, including performance evaluations and pay increase recommendations.
    • Assists in the development of short and long-range business forecasts and marketing plans.
    • Performs administrative, analytical, and research activities in support of the business development and acquisition, strategic planning, proposal development and/or marketing services functions.
    • Gathers data on competitors and analyzes their prices, sales and methods of operation.
    • Analyzes and researches customer information, product/service preferences, market size, penetration, marketing practices and trends.
    • Identifies and wins new business to meet the established business growth goals.
    • Exercises creative thinking and ideation to advance our business performance.
    • Delivers innovative, flexible, integrated solutions to meet customers’ changing business needs.
    • Follows industry trends and pursue technology innovation to ensure AT&SD services are cost competitive and superior to industry best practices.
    • Maintains extensive knowledge of government contracting and acquisition practices
    • Participates with other senior managers to establish strategic plans and objectives; results assessed from a relatively long-term perspective.
    • Expected to make final decisions in conjunction with the Executive Team on business, operational or programmatic matters and leads effective achievement of objectives.
    • Ensures budgets and schedules meet company requirements.
    • Works on complex issues where analysis of situations or data requires an in-depth knowledge of the company.
    • Regularly interacts with executives and/or major customers.
    • Conducts business and technical briefings for senior and top management and for external representatives.
    • Interactions frequently involve special skills, such as negotiating with customers, partners or management or attempting to influence senior level leaders regarding matters of significance to the organization.
    • Exerts considerable influence on the overall objectives and long-range goals of the organization.
    • Has overall control of planning, staffing, budgeting, managing expense priorities, and recommending and implementing changes to methods.
    • Responsible for managing people, including performance evaluations and pay increase recommendations.
    • Responsible for hire/fire decisions.

    Required Skills Required Experience

     

    • Bachelor's degree (or equivalent, (strong preference for a degree in a technical field)) with 16+ years of experience or a master’s degree with 14+ years of experience. At least 5 years in a management capacity.
    • Demonstrates extensive experience in having defined and executed successful strategies to grow business.
    • Able to articulate examples of having identified, pursued and won large capture efforts in areas related to U.S. federal civilian agencies market.
    • Possesses broad market awareness, to include budgets, customer priorities, mission gaps and market dynamics.
    • Strong leadership and communication skills and an ability to rapidly grasp advanced technologies and how they may be applied to satisfying customer requirements.
    • Able to thrive in a highly interactive team environment.
    • Demonstrates extensive interpersonal, communication, collaboration and leadership skills.
    • Recognized ability to build relationships with senior level customers and internal counterparts.
    • May require an understanding of international business and export processes.
    • Works well under pressure with the ability to simultaneously deliver on multiple tasks and/or priorities.
    • Frequent travel may be required.
    • Must hold or be able to obtain a Top Secret level security clearance.
    • An ability to work both independently and within highly motivated teams is required.
