Maintains lawns by planting, watering, fertilizing and cutting. Cultivates, prunes, plants and fertilizes shrubs, hedges and trees. Cultivates, plants and maintains flower beds, and other areas. Trims plants, shrubs, trees, lawns, etc. for the control of insect, animal and disease infestations. Sprays trees, shrubs, lawns and plants to apply supplemental liquid and dry nutrients. Waters trees, shrubs, lawns and plants using hoses or by activating fixed or portable sprinkler systems. Picks up trash and empties trash barrels and refuse containers. Cleans and sweeps parking lots and streets. Assists in repairing sidewalks, parking lots, and streets. Removes snow and ice from steps, sidewalks, streets and other public passageways. Operates the trash truck and water truck. Performs routine operator maintenance on grounds keeping equipment. Performs other related duties.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Frequent and repeated bending, stooping, and kneeling. Working with arms extended above head. Frequent lifting and carrying loads in excess of fifty pounds. Loading and unloading truck, manually. Working in extreme weather conditions. Exposure to physically demanding and potentially hazardous tasks. May be designated as an "essential position" during emergency closures. May be required to remain on campus overnight during weather or other emergencies.

SALARY RANGE:

Commensurate with experience.
