Responsibilities include information gathering, data entry into financial aid systems, and other compliance related functions. The ability to work accurately in a fast-paced, highly regulated environment is critical for success in this role. This is primarily an internal role with little learner/customer interaction, though some phone interaction with lenders and internal partners will be necessary at times. Responsibilities % Time Job Functions & Standard Expectations Essential or Non-essential responsibilities (E or Non-E) 85% Production Work Review financial aid eligibility and award amounts based on submitted documentation from the learner and U.S. Department of Education Title-IV guidelines. Process Financial Aid applications, adjustments, and other Financial Aid related functions Complete required work assigned by the Work Distributor accurately and within predetermined departmental service levels and metrics Apply updates and policy changes accurately and timely E 5% Workflow and capacity management Provide occasional phone/chat support to assist the financial aid contact center staff Assist supervisors in calling out potential areas of concern related to SLAs and recommend reallocation of resources E 5% Process improvement identification and implementation Inform supervisors and seniors of gaps related to particular worktypes in the system E 5% Internal customer relationship management Work cross functionally with other teams and departments as needed to ensure an exceptional learner experience E Other duties as assigned Qualifications Experience: 1+ year of experience in financial aid, student records, or transferable administration/processing experience, such as mortgage/insurance claims processing or data entry. Candidates with BBAY experience are highly encouraged to apply Education: Bachelors degree preferred; Associates degree or 2 years of commensurate experience required. Additional required competencies/skills : Ability to adhere to a regularly set schedule in support of departmental goals and objectives Demonstrated ability to critically think and take appropriate action based on training and relevant information Strong organizational skills and the ability to determine priorities and manage multiple demands Display consistent success with accurately performing highly detail oriented tasks Excellent written and verbal communication skills Demonstrated ability to remain calm under pressure and maintain a professional demeanor at all times. Maintain and understand compliance with all Title IV rules and regulations Learn and leverage financial aid systems such as People Soft, TotalView, Perceptive Content, Commonline Origination and Disbursement, National Student Loan Data Systems, and Central Processing Systems Ability to consistently meet or exceed productivity and quality goals on all duties as assigned Work/Location Requirements Qualified candidates will possess the ability to work independently, sitting at a computer station for long periods of the day. An essential function of the job is to access the National Student Loan Data System (NSLDS) in order to service our learners. This requires access via your social security number and is monitored by the government. To remain in a position to access this system, one must not have defaulted on any student loans in the past, be in default status currently or have problems with access in the future. Location Capella University Capella Tower 225 S. 6th St., 9th Floor Minneapolis, MN 55402 This is an on-site position located at Capellas downtown Minneapolis headquarters. It requires the ability to work in downtown Minneapolis and in a high-rise corporate office setting. Typical of a corporate office setting, Capellas office space: is designed with an open work space setting and common fluorescent lighting includes frequent co-worker interaction and corresponding noise levels is subject to inside environmental conditions Sedentary work: this role is mainly a sedentary role with frequent sitting and occasional walking and/or standing. this role involves frequent usage of a telephone, PC and standard monitors. this role has minimal lifting requirements, may require exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects Requires minimal (010 percent) business travel: may occasionally require travel to on-site Capella events such as Commencement or off-site Capella University leadership meetings as requested and based on business needs.All travel must be pre-approved and arrangements made according to Capellas policies/procedures. Workhours: the Universitys general office hours are Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. CST. Work hours and starting times may vary depending on the job and the business needs. Some positions will have a specified starting time, and may be earlier or later, depending upon business requirements. the normally scheduled workweek for all full-time employees consists of 40-45 hours.
