    Board Office Intern Job Summary: The Chicago Boardof Education is

    responsible for the governance, organizational and financialoversight of Chicago Public Schools. It establishes policies, standards, goalsand initiatives to ensure accountability and provide a high quality,world-class education for the 21st century that prepares our students forsuccess in college, work and life. The Board Office supports the Chicago Board of Education to advancetheir goals and objectives by:

    • Facilitatingongoing and efficient communication systems to improve Board engagement. * MaintainingBoard Rules & Policies for the Board of Education. * Executingcontracts, agreements and legal instruments approved by the Board for theDistrict. * Receivesand distributes subpoenas/liens/summons and other legal documents for theBoard. * Holdingmonthly Board Meetings on the fourth Wednesday of every month (except forNovember and December which are typically held on the third and secondWednesday respectively). * Providingsupport and services to all stakeholders. * Managingthe Archive for the Chicago Public Schools. ** ** Intern Description This is apart-time position that will mainly provide assistance to the Board Secretaryand the Office Receptionist. Positionwill also provide direct support to the Deputy Chief of Staff. Typical Duties include but not limited to: * Assist with preparation of materials and assist duringmonthly Board meeting, public hearings, committee meetings, and specialmeetings. * Answer incoming telephone calls from parents,general public, reporters, other Chicago Public Schools departments, BoardMembers and City of Chicago officials.
    • Provide assistance, answer questions,address concerns, and explain policies and procedures. * Assist staff incompletion of various projects, upon request. * Greet and direct visitors. * Performday-to-day clerical functions. * Assist public with viewing archive materials. * Manage office mail. **Qualifications: ** * Proficient with inbound call center environment. * Proficient in MS Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint and Google Docs. * Experience in assisting senior level executives highly desirable. * Bilingual in Spanish/English highly desirable. **Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: ** * Exemplary telephone customerservice. * Excellent interpersonal relations skills. * Strong sense of teamwork. * Strong work ethic. * Strong sense of initiative. * High degree of professionalism. * Organized and detail-oriented. * Ability to prioritize and manage multipletasks.
