To be considered for a College Student Internship, the following documents are required and must be uploaded to the City of Boca Raton's online employment application: 500-Word Essay - "Why I Want to Intern at the City of Boca Raton" Unofficial transcript from school currently attending. Departments may have separate requirements in lieu of or in addition to the requirements listed above and contained in the Program Guide. DEPARTMENT DESCRIPTION/MISSION STATEMENT: Police Services employs approximately 216 sworn officers and 104 civilian employees. ELIGIBILITY: In addition to the general eligibility requirements set forth in APPENDIX A of the Program Guide, candidates seeking to be considered for an Internship in Police Services must meet or comply with the following requirements: 1. Attend a state accredited college or university. 2. Have successfully registered for a Law Enforcement Internship class with the college or university. 3. Supply a letter of intent from the college or university's Internship Program Director. 4. Must successfully complete a polygraph examination. 5. Must successfully complete an extensive background check. III. QUALIFICATIONS: The applicant must be of good moral character, have good communication skills, have good work ethic, and must be flexible and able to work well with others. ? IV. PROGRAM TERM: The Police Services Department accepts Interns during each college semester. V. AVAILABLE POSITIONS: The Police Services Department hosts one (1) Intern per college semester. VI. EXPECTATIONS: Candidates selected for an Internship will be expected to comply with all City and Department rules and regulations. In addition, candidates will be expected to: 1. Complete the required amount of hours in accordance with the college/university requirements. 2. Wear proper attire while engaged in Intern activities. 3. Conduct him/herself in a professional manner. 4. Maintain the confidentiality of any information obtained through the Internship Program. 5. Ensure that all required documentation required by the college/university is supplied to the Department Internship Coordinator. 6. Understand that Interns are limited to non-enforcement assignments within the Police Department. Part time employees that work more than 1040 hours in a fiscal year receive 12 hours of floating holiday time for the next fiscal year. 01 Each applicant must complete this supplemental questionnaire as a part of the application screening and selection process.
