    Economic Development Intern Job Locations US-OK-Owasso Posted Date 20 hours ago (5/10/2018 4:47 PM) ID 2018-1219 # of Openings 1 Category Economic Development Overview Department: Economic Development Salary: $10/hour 25 flexible hours per week Job Summary: Under the direction of the Economic Development Director, the Economic Development Intern will conduct research, marketing, and correspondence with diverse stakeholders in support of Owassos business development, retention and recruitment efforts, project development plans, workforce development, the Owasso Economic Development Strategic Plan, and the City of Owassos Redbud District Development. The intern is also encouraged to design his/her own project to complete that will contribute to both the City of Owassos economic development efforts and the interns academic and/or professional development. The Economic Development Internship is structured to provide the intern with substantialand transferrableskills and experience to progress professionally and personally. The intern will be involved in the implementation of the Economic Development Strategic Plan and gain experience working with a diverse set of stakeholders across multiple sectors (city government, public-private partnerships, private business and community organizations). They will also develop important skills and experience as they work on the marketing and development of the Redbud District/TIF District. The Economic Development Intern will also gain professional and personal experience while engaging in the community at large. The goal is for the intern to gain a holistic and authentic experience working for and serving in a diverse community. The Economic Development Internship is ideal for undergraduate and graduate students (currently enrolled and seeking college credit) seeking careers in economic development, community development, city planning/management, policy & politics, urban development or real estate. The program is designed for ambitious individuals not only to build a strong resume, but also to make an impact on the community as they further develop important skills critical to a successful career. Qualifications Undergraduate students currently enrolled in an accredited, 4-year undergraduate institution and major/concentration in Economics, Business Administration, Political Science, Geography, Planning/Urban Studies, or related field. Graduate students currently enrolled in an accredited graduate degree program in Economics, Planning, Public Policy/Administration, Business Economics, Planning, Public Policy/Administration, Business Administration/Management, or related field. Have strong interests in economic development, community development, urban development, municipal government, real estate, business, public policy or economics. Have strong interpersonal and written communication skills, time competency and organization skills, and a drive to practice and further develop skills learned in the classroom and/or through experience; Be an ambitious self-starter seeking to use the opportunity to develop both personally and professionally, gain new perspectives and experiences, and make a lasting impact on the community in which they are serving.
