  • Responsibilities
    • Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of the subject matter being taught.

    • Ensure that lessons are integrated with a Christian worldview and philosophy of education.

    • Conduct long-range planning – ensure that the entire curriculum is taught and appropriately paced over the year, following the approved scope and sequence.

    • Conduct short-range planning – set goals and pace for each unit and week of instruction.

    • Identify and provide for individual students’ needs, including following Individualized Education Plans and making referrals for a special needs assessment if necessary.

    • Select, organize, and maintain a variety of instructional aids, methods and materials.

    • Plan through approved channels the balanced use of field trips, guest speakers, and other media.

    • Plan classwork and homework assignments that reinforce or extend student learning in meaningful ways.

    • Ensure that appropriate and varied assessment tools are used to assess student progress.

    • Inform the administration if unable to fulfill any assigned duty. Prepare adequate information and materials for the substitute teacher.

  • Qualifications

    MUST be willing to travel to the Dominican Republic

    • Successful candidates are native English speakers who have an understanding of or experience with ESL/ELL immersion strategies in the classroom.

    • Basic understanding of Spanish is helpful, but not required.

    • Candidates must have an Education degree with a US state licensure as well as evidence of an evangelical Christian faith commitment.

    • Two years of experience is preferred and previous international teaching experience is a plus.

    • Initial commitment is three years.

    Basic salary for local living provided.
