    Posted Job Title: COLLEGE PREPARATION ADVISOR, Open Doors

    Job Description: The College Preparation Advisor for Open Doors at Cameron University is critical to the success of the Open Doors program and its students.

    • Recruit, identify and select new students to maintain total caseload of 200 students at assigned school(s).
    • Advise all assigned Open Doors students at least once a month.
    • Accurately document student contacts on an ongoing basis.
    • Maintain close contact with every senior to ensure that all college admissions, financial aid, and scholarships applications are completed in a timely fashion.
    • Supervise and assist in transporting students on campus visits, community service activities, educational and cultural activities.
    • Plan, organize, and supervise daily activities for students attending summer programs.
    • Meet with parents as needed to provide information about program activities, ensure program objectives are met, and/or to counsel parents about student problems.
    • Work occasional nights, overnights and weekends.
    • Fulfill other duties as requested by Program Director.

    Supervision: The College Preparation Advisor will report to the Program Director.

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

    • Bachelor’s degree
    • Background similar to that of Open Doors’ students
    • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
    • Demonstrated organizational and management ability

    PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

    • Bachelor's degree in behavioral science or education
    • Master's degree
    • Experience working with youth

    SALARY : $33,750.00

    **PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: **Ability to lift objects under 15 pounds including using the upper body to raise objects from a lower position to a higher position; ability to reach including extending the arm and hand; ability to stand for short or extended periods. Ability to crouch, climb and walk stairs.

    • Inspect and evaluate environment, equipment and processes in working areas to ensure compliance with government safety regulations and industry standards
    • Manages implementation and maintenance of the Safety Management System and all associated audits and reporting requirements
    • Tracks injured employees (in conjunction with management) and their medical rehabilitation as well as developing appropriate light duty assignments
    • Develops and facilitates safety related programs and training for employees
    • Coordinates the enforcement of all company safety rules and ensuring disciplinary processes are followed for non-compliance
    • Leads the management of the Worker's Safety Compensation program
    • Oversees all safety committees/teams to ensure appropriate budgets, records, and files are adhered to and maintained
    • Maintains current, accurate records and files to ensure all regulatory and organizational requirements are met including postings and distributions
    • Leads First Responders and rendering first aid to injured employees; ensuring adherence to all training and regulatory requirements
    • Ensures periodic workplace and equipment inspections are conducted and documented
    • Coordinates with outside agency services for health, safety, training, education, resources, and government compliance regulations
