  • Responsibilities

    Job Description

    Columbia University’s Summer Program for High School Students is seeking teachers for intensive courses in JAVA and C programming. 

    RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Develop course content, syllabus, lesson plan, and assigned work (past syllabi will be available)

    • Lead all class sessions (two hours every morning and afternoon for 14 days).

    • Recruit and manage a teaching assistant. 

    • Establish and maintain a dynamic in-class environment.

    • Evaluate student work and write a holistic evaluation of each participant after the course ends.

    • Monitor and address student concerns and inquiries (you will have around 18-20 students).

  • Qualifications

    REQUIREMENTS

    • Academic and/or professional experience in computer science. 

    • Graduate degree or current status as a graduate student in a pertinent field.

    • Aptitude for teaching.

    • Proficiency in either Java or C programming.

    Additional Information

    • Compensation will be $7000 for course teachers and $2000 for teaching assistants (pre-tax).

    • Applicants must have U.S. work authorization and will not be able to hold any concurrent appointments at Columbia University.
