    Job Description

    As Cornell University’s online learning unit, eCornell delivers online professional certificate courses to individuals and organizations around the world. Courses are personally developed by Cornell faculty with expertise in a wide range of topics, including data analytics, management, marketing, human resources, leadership, and STEM. Students learn in an interactive, small cohort format to gain skills they can immediately apply in their organizations, while earning a professional certificate from Cornell University. eCornell has offered online learning courses and certificate programs for 15 years to over 130,000 students at more than 2,000 companies.

The ideal candidate has experience in admissions or enrollment selling online learning services to individual professional or higher education students in a fast paced, metrics driven sales environment. Enrollment Counselors are provided extensive training and coaching to enhance professional development and set you up for success.

    This position is remote. However, preference will be given to candidates living in the Charlotte, NC area. Occasional travel may be required to the Charlotte, NC or Ithaca, NY area for training, conferences, or meetings.

    WHAT YOU WILL DO:

    An eCornell Enrollment Counselor contacts potential students to sell online courses, then guides them through enrolling in one of our premiere certificate programs.

    A successful candidate thrives in a fast-paced team environment that is customer-service oriented. This is a high volume sales environment. As an Enrollment Counselor, you will work with leadership and fellow team members to master all the key basics of the new student qualification/enrollment process and ensure achievement of all individual sales performance objectives. This is a metrics-driven position. To achieve enrollment goals, you will conduct outreach via multiple communication channels, including cold calling, email, social selling, and utilizing social media to reach potential students. The ideal candidate has 2+ years experience directly selling professional online services/courses to individual students.

    • Master the basics of our sales process (IMPACT) using it to establish relationships and guide potential students.
    • Learn the Opportunity Guidelines and consistently follow these guidelines to gain an understanding and implement best practices around leading and lagging indicators:
    • Record all phone calls. IMPACT Call Score 80 or above.
    • Learn how to manage a forecast and ensure that information is accurate, up to date and appropriate next steps are set.
    • Master all of the basics of our systems including but not limited to: Salesforce, Destiny, TextUs, Calendly.
    • Ensure all potential student information is accurately entered into Salesforce in a timely manner.
    • Foster an environment of cooperation and teamwork amongst team members.
    • Understand what the team’s Wildly Important Goals (WIGs) are for the fiscal year and how this role supports those WIGs. 
    • Partner with other departments as necessary to finalize the enrollment process, including the Accounting, Student Services, and Helpdesk teams.
    • Utilize LinkedIn to assist with the IMPACT process and help differentiate eCornell as thought leaders.

     

    WHAT WE NEED: 

    • High school diploma and two years of enrollment, sales, admissions or related experience.
    • Ability to succeed in a fast-paced metrics driven environment. Strong growth and sales orientated attitude. You have a sense of urgency in completing your assigned tasks.
    • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
    • Detail-oriented and organized.
    • Focused on achieving optimum levels of service while maintaining high ethical standards. 
    • Ability to provide excellent customer service to potential and newly enrolling students by using our IMPACT sales process.
    • Strong computer skills (Excel, PowerPoint, etc.). Ability to utilize and leverage technology and systems.
    • Excellent oral and written communication skills.

    BONUS IF YOU HAVE, BUT OK IF YOU DON’T:

    • Knowledge of Salesforce or other Customer Relationship Management software (CRM).
    • Prior success working in a goal and metrics driven environment.
    • Direct enrollment, admissions, or sales in eLearning services.
    • Knowledge of the higher education market.
    • Customer service experience.
