Graduate Assistant, Housing and Residential Life/Residence Life Coordinator (Female Residence Hall) -Job Details Level Entry Job Location Cumberland University - Lebanon, TN Position Type Graduate Assistant Education Level Bachelor's Degree Job Category Admin - Clerical Description Position Title: Graduate Assistant for Housing and Residential Life Residence Life Coordinator (Female Residence Hall) Department: Residence Life Supervisor: Director of Residence Life and Greek Affairs Cumberland University, a private, independent liberal arts institution, is seeking a mature, energetic, and student centered Residence Life & Greek Affairs Graduate Assistant to help facilitate and manage the daily operations of the Residence Halls in the role of a Residence Life Coordinator. This position including supervision and development of student staff members and residents.This position is for individuals seeking a graduate assistant position. Duties & Responsibilities -Serve as a member of the senior staff team within the Office of Residence Life -Participates in department meetings and functions including, but not limited to, up to 20 hours a week in the Residence Life Office. (10 Hours in office and 10 Hours in building with staff) -Supervising a staff of up to 5 residence assistants -Participates in staff training and development including, but not limited to, developing and implementing July/August training, All-Staff and Building Meetings, and Spring Training -Manage administrative tasks and procedures related to hall operations and assist with resident check-in/out during openings and closings as well as breaks -Manage daily operation of a residence hall, including staff supervision, conflict resolution, crisis management and program advising -Create an environment in the residence halls that is inclusive and provides a safe, healthy learning environment which promotes University and community values and personal growth and development -Develop positive relationships with students -Facilitate community development and provide opportunities for interaction, investment and involvement in hall and campus activities -Facilitate Residential Life functions, such as recruitment, selection, training & evaluation of staff members -Uphold and enforce University policies/procedures and respond to crisis and emergency situations. -Support and develop the University core values -Complete all administrative duties within Office of Residence Life and Greek Affairs, including customer service, parking registration, ID information, and other duties -Report to and complete other duties as assigned by the Director of Residence Life and Greek Affairs Additionally, Residence Life & Greek Affairs Graduate Assistants will have the opportunity to directly influence and assist with Student Affairs to help develop and frame their graduate assistantship experience. Graduate Assistants may be asked to hold judicial hearings, develop/implement events for Greek Affairs, work with Disability Services, advise/lead the Student Programming Board, and participate in Summer Orientation and Freshman Seminar courses. Qualifications -Minimum -Two year commitment to Cumberland University -Two years experience living in a residence hall system -One year working in a residence hall. -Possess a bachelors degree from an accredited institution of higher education -Admission (or anticipated admission*) in an accredited degree-granting graduate program at Cumberland University and maintained academic performance (3.0 GPA per semester) -Maintain good judicial and behavioral standing with Cumberland University, local, state, and federal laws -Exhibit strong interpersonal communication skills with the ability to interact with diverse populations in a professional manner -Possess knowledge of teamwork, leadership, time and stress management, planning/organizing, problem solving, crisis management, conflict resolution, diverse cultural appreciation, self-discipline, customer service and mentoring skills -Maintain a high academic standard while working as a Graduate Assistant -Must be willing to work 10 hours a week between the hours of 8 to 4:30 each day and be on call after hours; events may come up as well where the GA will need to be available -Preferred -Bachelors Degree with a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 -Three years living in a residential hall system -Two years experience as a Resident Assistant, student organization leader and/or directly related work -Admission into an approved Masters program -Familiarity with residence hall systems and/or other education, administration or management experience Remuneration For their services, Residence Life Coordinators will receive the following: -Full Tuition Waiver -Waiver of Room, Board and Meal Plan -Professional growth opportunities Books and fees are not included.
