    Boston University Wheelock College of Education & Human Development seeks a full-time Digital Communications Specialist to join its Marketing & Communications Office. This highly collaborative role supports the college’s priorities in reputation building, community engagement, and enrollment marketing through strategic digital storytelling—ensuring alignment with both the college’s brand and Boston University’s overall brand. The specialist must be proactive and able to build strong partnerships with key offices and teams across Wheelock, including the graduate enrollment team. They are a strong writer and creative thinker who develops compelling written and multimedia content for the college’s website and social media channels. They bring a keen understanding of how to craft engaging, cross-platform content, take initiative, and thrive in a fast-paced environment with shifting priorities.

    Reporting to the Senior Director of Marketing & Communications, this full-time hybrid position is based on the Boston University campus and is eligible for the University’s comprehensive benefits program for staff. The Digital Communications Specialist will maintain a 3/2 hybrid work modality.

    Essential Functions:

    Content Development

    • Serve as primary writer for BU Wheelock website, social media, e-newsletter, and other platforms and channels.
    • Independently identify compelling content ideas, partnering with faculty and other others in the BU Wheelock community.
    • Monitor news sources, social media, and other channels to stay informed and source content ideas.
    • Stay up to date on best practices for content marketing, including search engine optimization.
    • Monitor engagement and make recommendations for content optimization.
    • Maintain the College’s photography portfolio.

    Social Media

    • In collaboration with the Assistant Director, support strategic implementation of social media plan.
    • Identify ideas for and develop multimedia content for BU Wheelock platforms.
    • Post and schedule original and third-party content based on channel performance, best practices, and trends.

    Website Development (20%)

    • Contribute to maintaining and updating the BU Wheelock website.
    • Copy edits, proofread, and fact-check content, reviewing for grammar, spelling, punctuation, and other errors.

    Other Duties

    • Oversee college’s promotional swag program.
    • Other duties as assigned.

    Required Skills

    Minimum Qualifications:

    • Bachelor’s degree in communications, marketing, or a related subject or equivalent professional experience.
    • 2+ years related work experience.
    • Proven ability to produce high-quality and engaging content.
    • Proven ability to plan, test, and create compelling multimedia content for social media, including creating and editing photography and videography.
    • Experience using analytics tools and reporting metrics.
    • Strong ability to work independently as well as work collaboratively across teams and functions.
    • Ability to initiate and successfully manage multiple projects and deadlines.
    • Excellent attention to detail, and experience copy editing/proofreading content.
    • Demonstrated proficiency using WordPress or a similar content management system.
    • Familiarity with Sprinklr or a similar social media management platform.
    • HT/HTML5 knowledge and proficiency in Adobe Suite (Dreamweaver, Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator) and Canva.
    • Hands on SEO experience and knowledge of best practices,

    Compensation: The salary range for this position is $52,000 - $57,000 annually. This range is based on factors such as experience, qualifications, and the overall scope of the role. Please note that the final salary offered may vary depending on these factors.
