    The Cosmetology Instructor is responsible for the success of the total teaching/learning process within the assigned classroom, laboratory, shop, or other learning other learning environment. The Cosmetology Instructor reports directly to the Cosmetology Program Director, and indirectly to the Dean of Career and Technical Education.

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

    Must be certified with a valid and current Texas Cosmetology License, be highly skilled in areas pertaining to cosmetology, and have a minimum of three years experience in a professional salon. Must also possess an outgoing and positive outlook and have good communication and organizational skills.

    RESPONSIBILITIES:

    Teach the classroom and laboratory aspects of the cosmetology program as prescribed by the State Cosmetology Board and Clarendon College.

    Perform and carry out the teaching assignment in an effective and efficient manner.

    Plan, prepare, and deliver lesson plans and instructional materials that facilitate active learning.

    Encourage and monitor the progress of individual students and use information to adjust teaching strategies.

    Maintain accurate and complete records of student's progress and development.

    Develop and enrich knowledge of relevant technology and technological programs used (Cengage, CAMS, etc.).

    Establish and maintain appropriate office hours.

    Work individually and collaboratively with others to recruit new students and work to retain current students.

    Manage student behavior in the classroom by establishing and enforcing rules and procedures.

    Maintain discipline in accordance with the expectations and rules set forth by Clarendon College.

    Remain current in the teaching discipline through professional development activities; maintain familiarity with recent publications and journals in the teaching discipline; and, participate in local, state, or national professional societies and meetings where appropriate.

    Assist in advising and registration, as assigned.

    Support College activities and special events through attendance and/or participation.

    Work on standing and ad hoc committees of the College, as assigned.

    Comply with all College policies, rules, and regulations.

    Perform any other duty as assigned by the Director of Cosmetology, Dean of Career and Technical Education, and/or the President.
