    Position Details Position Information Position Title Contract Specialist/Reviewer Department Procurement Services Position Number 0065704 Hiring Range Minimum $60,400 Hiring Range Maximum $75,500 Advertisement Text Position Purpose Provides review, interpretation, and guidance for the Sourcing Team of the Dartmouth College Office of Procurement Services on vendor contracts or changes to College contract templates for contracts for supplies, equipment and purchased services. Participates in negotiations to achieve agreement between parties. Liaises with the Office of the General Counsel ( OGC ), the Office of Risk and Internal Controls ( RICS ), and the Office of Information, Technology and Consulting ( ITC ). Educates Procurement staff in understanding contract terms and conditions and contracting policies and procedures. Skills & Knowledge Experience drafting and negotiating legal agreements. Strong analytical skills with close attention to detail. Demonstrated understanding and working knowledge of applicable commercial and legal terms. Exceptional presentation, interpersonal and negotiation skills. Ability to train less experienced Procurement professionals to develop skills to review contract terms and conditions. Mature judgment, planning and problem solving skills. Excellent organizational skills and ability to take initiative, manage projects, balance competing demands, and make decisions under pressure. Ability to foster respectful communication and collaboration within a diverse community. Minimum Experience Three to five years of significant experience in reviewing contract terms and conditions, making risk assessments, negotiating with third parties, drafting contract terms, and working with interdisciplinary teams. Familiarity with technology platform structures, data security matters, and insurance. requirements Experience with Higher education institutions a plus. Minimum Education Bachelors Degree. Law degree (JD) or Masters Degree in business-related field preferred. Key Accountabilities Key Accountabilities Contracts: Reviews complex solicitations and prepares specialized and/or non-routine requests for proposals (RFPs) and contract provisions. Reviews bids submitted in response to RFPs and analyzes vendor variation of standard College contract terms. Interprets commercial legal terms and conditions and assesses their impact/risk to the College. Translates and conveys the intent of these terms to campus partners Acts as the focal point for all communication with legal, finance, and business teams for resolution of contract issues and disputes. Partners with RICS and ITC to establish contractual controls related to insurance, cyber security, etc. Drafts contracts with vendors. Determines special contract clauses to clearly define buyer/seller responsibilities in accordance with Dartmouth policies and procedures while leveraging subject matter experts as needed. With the OGC , provides guidance and advice to internal clients in connection with contract review, including sensitivities around warranties, intellectual property, data security, indemnification and limitations of liability, and proper contracting practices. With the OGC , establishes and refines standard contract terms and templates for use across a wide range of goods and services procured by the College. General Support: Communicates with vendor representatives promptly and respectfully. Promotes a fair and ethical buyer/seller relationship. Fosters a collaborative relationship with internal stakeholders to determine their needs/concerns and meet their requirements. Assists with development of technical and performance specifications for proposed procurements. Represents the Office of Procurement Services to the College community. Promotes positive relationships with other administrative departments and with vendors. Professional Development: With the OGC , provides formal and ad-hoc training for the Sourcing Team, and constituencies across campus, to build on their knowledge of legal terms and conditions in agreements. Remains abreast of market trends in contracting to inform members of the Sourcing Team where appropriate. Attends seminars, workshops, conferences, and trade shows to stay current in both professional and commodity knowledge. -- Performs other duties as assigned
