Admission to most of these events is free for DSC employees.  We currently have an opportunity to join our team of talented and diverse Faculty and Staff as a STUDENT ACTIVITIES SPECIALIST.  REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:  This position requires an associate's degree in education, sports management, recreation, or related field and one (1) year of related experience. A valid Florida Driver License is also required.  THIS IS A FULL-TIME, NON-EXEMPT POSITION WITH A MINIMUM HOURLY RATE OF $13.85 with an approximate annual amount of $28,800.  WORKING HOURS: Regular work hours are 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday.     KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:   

     

    • Provides guidance, supervision and support to Student Government and other student organizations in planning and implementing campus and community service activities at all campuses.
    • Plans and implements departmental co-curricular programs that reflect student interests and support institutional values and goals.
    • Determines level of student interest in co-curricular programs and continually evaluates program effectiveness on and off campus.
    • Supports efforts to create opportunities for students to develop leadership, teamwork, communication, and organizational skills.
    • Supports departmental efforts to promote co-curricular activities in print and online media.
    • Manages the set up and maintenance of supplies and equipment for student programs and activities.
    • Assists with intramural sports events and activities.
    • Performs office management tasks, such as serving walk-in, telephone, and online request for services.
    • Assists with budget preparation.
    • Attends staff meetings to exchange information. Attends professional seminars and/or conferences to improve professional skills.

     

     

    KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:  The successful candidate must have the ability to perform clerical and technical tasks requiring a wide range of procedures, summarize, tabulate, and format data and information. This individual must have the ability to give information, guidance, or aid and knowledge in the operation and use of office technology, digital media and web-based applications. The successful candidate must be self-motivated and have strong organizational, written, and oral communication skills.
