    POSITION DETAILS

    Stewards Individual Placement Program (SIPP) provides individuals with service and career opportunities to strengthen communities and preserve our natural resources. Participants work with federal agencies, tribal governments, and nonprofits building institutional capacity, developing community relationships, and supporting ecosystem health. SIPP in partnership with the Wright Brother National Memorial are seeking an intern who will work as a member of the Interpretation Division and assist in the implementation of its mission by sharing the inspirational story of Wilbur and Orville Wright with the visitors and community.

     

    POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES WILL INCLUDE:

    • Research and develop interpretive programs
    • Incorporate Audience-centered techniques into all formal programs
    • Create and submit a program outline for each formal program developed
    • Staff the front desk of the visitor center both independently and with park volunteers
    • Provide exceptional customer service through responding to visitor inquiries in person, online or over the phone
    • Work with park staff to open and close park visitor center
    • Using audience-centered engagement techniques, the intern will develop a minimum of 2 pop-up programs
    • Compile an outline and list of materials needed for each Pop-up programs
    • Post pop-up programs for feed back on common learning portal
    • Perform Regularly scheduled Roving to create more opportunities for visitor engagement

     

     

    MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

    • 18-30 years of age, maximum 35 years old for Veterans with valid DD-214

    • US Citizen, National, or Lawful Permanent Resident Alien of the United States

    • Full vaccination against COVID-19 by the first day of employment and ability to provide proof of vaccination before starting

    • Valid Diver’s license

    • Ability to pass a background check

    • Proficient in use of social media
    • Experience working with the public
    • Public speaking skills
    • Able to work independently
    • Ability to communicate
    • Work effectively with individuals of all ages and backgrounds

     

    BENEFITS:

    • Position is eligible for an AmeriCorps education award upon successful completion of the program. Value of education award is $2,417.14 (pre-tax).
