    The Hesburgh Libraries of Notre Dame is seeking an energetic and goal oriented library professional to join our team as the Document Delivery and Stacks Coordinator. This role is part of the Document Delivery, Stacks, and Annex Services team within the User Services Department of Hesburgh Libraries. The ideal candidate will bring expertise in managing and motivating student employees along with a solid understanding of library practices.

    Responsibilities:

    Stacks and Collection Maintenance
    Maintain the physical order of the library collections through multiple workflows that fall under this position’s responsibility. This work ensures collections, physical resources, and shelving remain accurate and accessible to all library users. Success in this area requires strong attention to detail, the ability to complete tasks independently with accuracy, and the skill to check one’s own work. The coordinator will also have assigned floors and designated shelf ranges to oversee.

    Student Training and Management
    Hire, train, and supervise a team of Document Delivery and Stacks student employees who help fulfill document delivery requests and maintain the physical collections of Hesburgh Libraries. This role requires the ability to analyze challenges, propose solutions, and implement changes independently. The coordinator will monitor the quality of student work and step in to perform responsibilities directly when student staffing is unavailable.

    Team Collaboration and Professional Development
    Stay current with new processes and evolving library policies while ensuring student employees are informed of relevant updates. Participate in workshops and professional development opportunities to expand skills and expertise. This role will also be trained to support other User Services teams including Circulation Services, Course Reserves, and ILL Lending and Borrowing when needed.

    Minimum Qualifications:

    • Education: One year certificate or training from college or technical school
    • Experience: 1 year related work experience

    Skills:

    • Highly effective written and oral communication skills, demonstrating effective navigation of interpersonal relationships by actively listening, providing constructive feedback, and adapting communication styles to meet the needs of a diverse audience.
    • Outstanding organizational skills, particularly in regards to student employment administration, encompassing information management, scheduling, and budgeting.
    • Proficient computing skills utilizing productivity software including Google suite of applications.
    • Must be physically able to perform the demands of the work including: pushing fully loaded book trucks weighing up to 200 lbs, lifting heavy books, stretching, bending, kneeling, crouching, and standing for extended periods.

    Preferred Qualifications:

    • Experience supervising and evaluating the workplace performance of student employees.
    • Experience using the Library of Congress classification system to shelve books.

    Compensation: Up to $22/hour
