Job Posting Title: Electrician I - Apprentice Job Description: Responsible for the repair, maintenance and installation of electrical systems and equipment. Develops and promotes good community relations among various community and school clientele. Position Specific Information (if Applicable): Essential Physical Requirements: * Frequently lift up to 50 pounds. * Frequent sitting and standing * Occasional bending, squatting, kneeling, and climbing. * Regularly required to move around work place, manipulating and handling, reaching and detecting objects and equipment, reaching for objects and equipment while simultaneously assisting balancing, positioning, lifting. * Minimum Experience Requirement: * 0-2 years of job related experience. Minimum Education or Formal Training: * High school graduate plus specialized classes beyond high school. * Will be expected to obtain a minimum of 288 hours of electrical training in grounding/bonding, NEC code changes, wiring methods, theory/calculations as required by DORA within 4 years of hire date. Will be expected to obtain a minimum of 10 hours of OSHA curriculum based safety training within 4 years of hire date. * Will be expected to pass the Journeyman Electrical exam at the end of the required 8,000 hours of on the job training. Requirements: * Four weeks on-call required annually * Enroll in the apprenticeship school and be able to keep up with their schedule and curriculum. * Be able to work with direct supervision throughout the apprenticeship. Responsibilities: --- Estimate the repairs and projects in terms of labor and materials. --- Inspect, repair and maintain electrical systems and equipment at various District facilities. --- Perform other related duties as assigned or requested. --- Evaluate problems and situations relating to electrical equipment, make decisions accordingly. --- Coordinate and delegate work within the electrical maintenance trade. --- Repair electrical motors, controllers and starters.
