Student Success Technology Tools Specialist (Program Specialist 2) SALARY: $37,260- $41,856 OPENING DATE: January 3, 2019 CLOSING DATE: January 17, 2019 at 5:00 pm Pacific Time DESCRIPTION: Academic Advising supports Edmonds CC's mission, 'Teaching | Learning | Community', by fulfilling critical entry, persistence, and completion strategies for Edmonds Community College's diverse student population. The Student Success Tools Specialist is responsible for assisting in maintaining the operation and development of online academic and career advising tools and services for the college. This position serves as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) who strategically collaborates with employees and students of the college to manage and maintain a diverse set of student success technology tools. Responsibilities include: Manage and maintain a diverse set of technologies, including but not limited to Starfish (Hobsons), CRM (Mongoose), and Online Orientation (Advantage Design Group). Work with vendors and the Information Technology (IT) department to research issues and test the functionality of applications. Partner with IT to ensure shared communications about system use, end user needs and system upgrades. This includes: Providing requirements or feedback to IT regarding proposed technological solutions. Coordinating with IT on the development and integration of technological solutions. Communicating with staff regarding technological changes and improvements. Thoroughly document all application configuration decisions, changes and processes. Provide end-user support to Academic Advising and Student Services staff. Ensure system configurations match end-user needs, suggest and implement solutions, drive issues to resolution and share best practices. Document and track end-user support requests through Spiceworks, the college's ticketing system. Communicate and report on successes and issues to leadership. Develop, revise and evaluate training materials used to educate the campus community on online student success tools. Train incoming staff and faculty on software (e.g., Starfish) relevant to their position. Create and maintain software tool(s) adoption and marketing plans for students and staff. Provide presentations and updates to the campus community regarding the effectiveness and opportunities involving student success/retention software applications and initiatives. Work with Institutional Research (IR) and IT as a Subject Matter Expert to help develop data analytics and reporting to measure the impact of new technologies on students and college processes. This data will be used to measure quality outcomes related to student persistence, retention, completion rate, course success, and to design improvement strategies based on the evidence and report out the data to college audiences. Provide data-driven recommendations to build business cases to improve processes and recommend initiatives for increased persistence, retention, and completion. Recognize problems with data or performance within software and act appropriately to improve the condition. Attend all advising and All-Student Services staff meetings to communicate about the software needs of the departments. Perform other duties as assigned. Qualifications REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor's Degree in Education, related Social Services, or Education Technology field. At least two years of significant experience in one or more areas: information technology, academic advising, student services, program development, project management, and/or direct service in education or social services in a higher education setting. DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS: Demonstrated experience in project management. Demonstrated experience in designing and facilitating dynamic, interactive, and innovative training workshops and presentations. Demonstrated knowledge in best practices in a higher education. Candidates must exhibit competency and experience working in a diverse academic environment, inclusive of students, faculty, and staff of varying social, economic, cultural, ideological, gender/sexuality, and ethnic backgrounds and identities. Excellent verbal, listening, writing, problem-solving and interpersonal communication skills. Additional Information PHYSICAL WORK ENVIRONMENT: Work is primarily performed in an office setting. The ability to sit at a desk/computer station and perform detailed tasks involving repetitive arm and hand movements is essential. This includes operation of standard office equipment such as a computer, electronic calculator, copy machine, and multi-line phone system. The ability to organize, prioritize, and accommodate numerous interruptions is essential. Excellent communication skills, both oral and written, are essential. This includes the ability to speak clearly and fully comprehend written and spoken English, and will include communication with people for whom English is a second language, and will require conducting workshops and giving presentations. COMPENSATION: Salary range: Beginning salary is $37,260- $41,856 per month for 40 hours per week, with incremental increases to $48,480 per month plus a full state benefits package, which includes tuition waivers for college classes, medical, dental, retirement options and more. Vacation and leave package includes 12 sick days per year, 10 scheduled holidays, 1 personal holiday, 2 personal leave days, and 14 vacation days per year (incremental increases to 24 vacation days per year).
