The Boston University Department of Journalism seeks a Master Lecturer to teach visual and digital journalism courses. This lecturer will teach sections of required graduate and undergraduate courses in visual storytelling and digital journalism.
The candidate will advise graduate students working on documentaries as capstone professional projects and develop and teach documentary production courses.
Our visual journalism courses are a requirement for all undergraduate and graduate journalism majors. The learning outcome of these courses is to insure that graduates of our program are multi-platform journalists, able to report a story using video and audio as well as text.
This master lecturer would advise students about careers in multimedia and film and help support internship referrals to the news organizations and local production firms.
Established in 1947, the College of Communication at Boston University is a large college with the following three departments: Department of Mass Communication, Advertising & Public Relations; Department of Journalism; and Department of Film & Television. COM’s student population exceeds 2,000 annually, including undergraduates, graduate and PhD’s. Required Skills
Candidates for this position should have an extensive filmography and a demonstrated track record of distribution by local outlets, national networks and online news websites. International reporting experience is a plus, as is recognition through industry awards and/or film festival honors.
Candidates should also have a respected, demonstrated record of teaching, both in classrooms and newsrooms, with experience in effective course instruction. Industry experience is required.
