    PATH is currently seeking a Procurement Associate who will be responsible for procuring supplies, equipment, and services, as well as providing technical and advisory support and training to country office staff, relating to their procurement and service needs.  This position will also partner with the Seattle Office Lab team on planning, coordinating, and buying goods and services in support of PATH’s lab and research activities.  The Procurement Associate will also be responsible for procuring various goods and services from a wide range of programs and in various country markets and locations ranging from event venues, printed materials, hotel, and training services, to specialized vehicles. 

     

    This position will also support the Procurement Officers within the global team on various procurement activities such as solicitation and exemption reviews; both informal and formal competitive procurement processes; and vendor management.  Procurement Associates will also be expected to provide guidance and training relating to country office procurement activities, policy compliance, restricted commodities, specialized logistics, and other issues impacting procurement. 

     

     

    RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Partner with program staff to determine appropriate procurement methods to fulfill the program needs for a wide variety of goods and services with a focus on lab supplies and equipment, printed materials, and conference/venue rentals.
    • Prepare documentation for approval of US and international high-value purchases.
    • Issue a high volume of purchase orders within authorized authority.
    • Primary buyer for lab supplies, equipment, and services including sensitive and regulated items.
    • Daily engagement in creating, updating, and resolving issues relating to purchase orders using PATH’s Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system.
    • Develop job aids for staff on buying processes in the financial system and participate in system sustainment activities.
    • Support projects’ global shipping and logistics needs including planning, creating documenting, and resolving, technical, transport, customs and other shipping and logistical issues that may arise relating to domestic and international procurements.
    • Proactively contribute to the Procurement team in developing and improving procedures for planning, facilitating, evaluating, and reviewing procurements by leveraging current technology and implementing process improvements.
    • Create and deliver trainings and internal educational materials for procurement compliance and targeted learning and resources for staff and implement corrective measures to mitigate compliance issues. Mentor staff with program procurement or other buyer functions that are located outside of the Seattle Office as needed.  Maintain and update Procurement’s SharePoint Team site
    • Provide input and contribute to improvements to PATH policies, procedures and compliance for issues relating to procurements logistics and practice.

     

    Required Skills Required Experience

     

    • Associate degree in a related field with a minimum of 2 years of experience in a compliance, procurement, buyer, or contracting setting. An equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered as substitute. 
    • Working knowledge of standard procurement processes and procedures.
    • Some familiarity working in finance and/or procurement modules of an ERP system or similar business process management system or technology solution.
    • Must be able to obtain IATA certification to ship Dangerous Goods by air within the first three (3) months of employment. PATH will determine the training course; cover the tuition expense; and provide the opportunity to complete the necessary hours for the certification. 
    • Strong written and oral communications skills.
    • English fluency, including speaking, writing, understanding, reading, and conducting business.
    • Proven effectiveness working in a team and with minimal oversight on self-directed projects.
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite applications, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
    • Highly organized with superb attention to detail.
    • Demonstrated ability to multitask and re-prioritize work.
    • Excellent customer support skills.
    • Must have legal authorization to work in the United States.

     

     

    DESIRED:

    • Bachelor’s Degree in business administration, or related field of study a plus.
    • Certification or similar credentials or training courses relating to the role of a public procurement professional or Buyer, such as through the National Institute of Government Procurement’s Certified Procurement Professional designation program.
    • Experience working in an environment or field that receives federal funding, such as with the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) grants and applies procurement rules governed by the Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) as a result.
    • Practical experience in conducting or working with Requests for Proposals, Invitations to/for Bids, the simplified acquisition process, and within a federal regulatory or other highly audited environment.
    • Familiarity with Microsoft SharePoint a plus.
    • Experience working in or with an organization with global services or staff located internationally.

    We offer our employees a competitive salary and generous benefits.  For candidates based in the U.S., the annual salary range for this position is $53,784-$81,536, the final salary is based on a variety of objective factors.

    HYBRID WORK

    PATH operates within a hybrid workplace model unless otherwise noted. Hybrid employees must reside within commuting distance to one of our PATH offices. PATH’s US offices are located in Seattle, WA and Washington, D.C.

  • Qualifications
    • 7-10 years of experience with manufacturing companies in positions of responsibility such as cost accounting, plant controllership, profitability analysis and manufacturing cost reductions.
    • Experience at the Corporate level with multi-plant responsibility required. 
    • Broad knowledge of, and experience in financial analysis and reporting, budgeting, financial closing, internal key performance indicator controls, plant cost control, inventory management, and sales pricing. 
    • Understanding of manufacturing standard cost accounting and activity based accounting methodologies required. 
    • Experience implementing or developing SAP FI/CO module or extensive experience as a heavy user of SAP FI/CO. 
    • Proven ability to work in a matrix organization and cross-functional team environment. 
    • Track record of successful relationships with plant managers, accounting departments and operations/supply chain leaders.
    • Outstanding business acumen, interpersonal, and communication skills 
    • A team collaborative team player with a sense of urgency and ability to work under pressure.
    • Bachelor’s degree in Finance or Accounting required. Master’s degree preferred.
    • Work is performed within a business environment at a corporate location, with standard office equipment available. 
    • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, stand, bend, walk, use hands or finger, talk, hear, feel objects, tools, or controls; may be required to lift up to 15 pounds.
