    HELPING OTHERS THROUGH FITNESS PROGRAMMING & OPERATIONS 

    Health Fitness is looking for a skilled and highly motivated individual to fill our FITNESS & OPERATIONS SUPERVISOR position at the Yukon Kuskokwim Fitness Center in Bethel, AK.  This individual will have an opportunity to influence the growth and development of fitness and wellness in our community.  Responsibilities include Fitness Program development and supervision of 12-15 indirect reports, assisting with facility supervision and operations, providing excellent customer service, and serving as a part of the facility Safety Team. The ideal candidate will have a passion for helping others improve their lives through fitness, health, and wellness as well as the commitment and operational skills to provide safe services in a clean well-maintained facility. Flexible work schedule will include some evenings & weekends.

    WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING:

    Fitness Program development and oversight:

    • Developing, implementing, and supervising Group Fitness and personal training classes/programs.
    • Hiring and managing group fitness instructors and personal trainers.
    • Working with Membership Manager to develop, market, and implement member incentive/retention and community engagement program.

    Assist with facility management and operations:

    • Maintenance and operations of the facility including oversight of facility attendant/custodial staff assuring facility cleanliness.
    • Coordinate preventative and routine facility maintenance.
    • Perform routine preventative maintenance of fitness equipment.
    • Maintain system of record keeping logs for fitness equipment and mechanical systems.
    • Inventory management of building supplies including researching and purchasing replacement supplies and equipment.
    • Serve as part of the Facility Safety Team and provide backup lifeguard coverage as needed.

     

    Providing excellent Customer Service:

    • Offering personable, friendly assistance with membership registration, program enrollment and other services.
    • Respond to injuries and/or incidents in the facility in a professional manner.

     

    BACKGROUND NEEDS:

    • Bachelor’s degree in Exercise Science, Health Promotion, or related discipline & 1+ year of supervisory experience in a related field (or equivalent combination of education, certifications, and experience).
    • Lifeguard certified (American Red Cross) or possess swim skills and ability to pass Lifeguard Certification course within 90 days of hire.
    • Alaska Food Workers Card or Safe Serve Certification within 30 days of hire
    • Hands on experience with preventative maintenance, troubleshooting and repair of fitness equipment.
    • Strong interpersonal and customer service skills including the ability to motivate others. Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team with enthusiasm, initiative, and creativity.
    • Computer proficiency in MS Office including Word, Excel and Outlook.
    • An ideal candidate would also have Industry recognized Group Exercise certification from ACE, AFAA, ACSM, NETA or other NCCA accredited specialty certification and/or Personal Training certification from ACE, AFAA, ACSM, NETA, NSCA or NASM.

    Required Skills Required Experience

  • Qualifications
    • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, computer engineering or related field with 5+ years of experience is required; Master’s degree with 3+ years of experience is preferred
    • 3-5 years experience building dynamic websites using .NET with knowledge with ASP.NET and .NET CORE framework and SQL Server, Visual studio and C# 
    • 3-5 years experience with developing and supporting data integration, data architecture and analytics and business intelligence solutions using various architecture and software design patterns; particularly, ETL, data warehouse (custom and packaged applications) and transactional reporting and data access.
    • 1 year experience in MS Azure, Amazon Web Services, Google Cloud Platform or MongoDB
    • Familiarity with RESTful APIs for Mobile Apps and Microsoft Apps
    • Knowledge of architectural patternsMVP, MVC, MVVM
    • Ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing complex technical solutions
    • Mobile App Development experience preferred
