  • Responsibilities

    The NYU Leadership Initiative is seeking a student to help staff on an upcoming University-wide event, taking place on Wednesday May 15th at the NYU Kimmel Center. The Events Assistant will need to be available on May 15th from 5:00PM-8:30PM.

    How You Work

    The Events Assistant will be responsible for ensuring that the evening event runs smoothly. This involves coordinating venue setup, managing event registration, and covering any other relevant logistical details. You are a detail oriented person, adaptable within fast-paced environments, and have strong time-management skills.

    Responsibilities:

    • Assist with the organization and execution of all event activities throughout the week
    • Act as liaison with list of vendors and partners to ensure timely and accurate communication with catering, campus media, speakers, and all other parties
    • Conduct pre-event walk-through using the event briefs provided to determine whether event plans are accurate and proactively address possible issues; follow-through on detailed tasks lists and status updates for each event from start to finish
    • Oversee the check-in process of guests for each event (using online registration platform)

    This position will require lifting, carrying, or moving up to 50lbs with or without assistance. This may also require bending, kneeling, stooping, twisting, and other physical activity when facilitating training.

  • Qualifications
    • High School Degree, College Degree a plus
    • Current student at NYU (for access to and from buildings)
    • Demonstrated passion for event planning
    • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, set priorities, identify and address problems, and meet deadlines Ability to maintain positive working relationships with internal and external customers Strong organizational and time management skills with a proven track record of meeting deadlines and juggling competing requests and tasks; strong ability to prioritize Ability to use creativity to plan and execute tasks; ability to be resourceful
